Another highlight of last weekend’s Bushwick Open Studios: getting to visit Kristen Schiele’s studio at 1717 Troutman Street (even if she wasn’t there).
Amid Frieze Week madness, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council held open studios for its artists in residency, who included conceptual photographer Wafaa Bilal.
A few weeks ago I visited the massive new art center that collage artist Dustin Yellin is building in Red Hook. While parts of it are still under construction, much of the Civil War-era building is already being used as a gallery for works like this pair of mixed-media in glass figures by Yellin.
My final article forĀ The L Magazine was a terrific interview and studio visit with R. Justin Stewart, whose enormous installation at The Invisible Dog Art Center, “Distorting (a messiah project, 13C),” opens March 10 and continues through May 5.

Had a great studio visit in Red Hook with Shura Chernozatonskaya earlier this week. Her exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum opens on January 27 and continues through April 8.
