Ai Weiwei’s powerful and haunting installation “Forge” (2009-10) is currently on view at Mary Boone Gallery (through December 21).
Sperone Westwater’s amazing exhibition Marble Sculpture from 350 B.C. to last week (through February 25) includes five pieces from Ai Weiwei’s “Marble Doors” series (2007).
Not sure why I didn’t get around to posting these while they were still up, but late last year Paul Kasmin Gallery had an exhibition of Ai Weiwei’s “Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads” (2010) at the gallery’s new space in the building that used to be Bungalow 8. These “Zodiac Heads” were gold-plated bronze, as opposed to the straight up bronze outdoor ones.
An installation of Ai Weiwei’s sunflower seeds opened yesterday at Mary Boone Gallery, where it remains through February 4.
I enjoyed this new print by Kenneth Tin-Kin Hung, starring Ai Weiwei, in the summer group show How To Philosophize With a Hammer at White Box Gallery. About five feet from it there’s an actual Ai Weiwei sculpture too.
